Foreword#

Hello! This is my student blog for the 2023-2024 ULB class “How To Make (almost) Any Experiments Using Digital Fabrication”.

About me#

Hi! I am Eva Dubar. I am a Master 2 student in Computer science and Engineering. I am very passionnate about mathematics, visual media anc computer vision.

My background#

I was born in brussels and did all my education here. I am currently living in Saint-Gilles.

I did my bachelor in physics engineering. Some of my previous bachelor works include a show laser and a LiFi transmitter.

Personnal projects#

In my personnal and scholar work, I work with creative 3D. Before starting my master in computer enginerring i’ve learn some 3D software including Blender, Houdini, C4D, ZBrush, etc. I’ve also had a class on OpenGl where I coded a 3D environement

I also like to mix computer science with other art discipline, generaly more associated to women (or feminity and superficiality), like fasion, jewellery, and knitting. Despite being the sole female participant in my master’s program, I encounter challenges in feeling fully included in this predominantly male-dominated environment. The absence of female role models in the field of science, coupled with pervasive stereotypes dictating how a computer scientist should appear, contributes to an atmosphere that may deter girls from envisioning themselves within this field. The dearth of feminine representation in science further exacerbates the struggle for women, reinforcing the perception that these realms are not inherently suited to them. I believe that bridging the gap between computer science and traditionally feminine art forms can not only break down gender stereotypes but also create a more inclusive and diverse environment that encourages young women to explore and excel in the field.

Languages#

Comme mes études sont en anglais, c’est devenu plus confortable pour moi d’écrire en anglais, mais comme ce cours est principalement donné en français, je risque d’être multilingue dans cette documentation.

Un de mes hobby préféré, en dehors des cours, est de me lancer dans l’apprentissage de nouvelles langues (sans vraiment continuer, parce qu’avec mes cours j’ai pas vraiment le temps, mais j’aimerai beacoup parler italien et arabe).

Note#

La touche H de mon clavier est un peu capricieuse, cette documentation risque donc de manquer de hhhhhhh’s. (UPDATE: ma touche H s’est reposée, elle va beaucoup mieux, c’est ma touche flèche gauche qui fait des siennes, conclusion: pas très fan de mon choix d’ordi)
